Vinicius Mattoso

is a Brazilian engineer with expertise in artificial intelligence as well as optimization. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Oil and Energy from PUC-Rio, and is concluding an MBA focused on Artificial Intelligence at the Laboratório de Inteligência Computacional Aplicada (ICA). Currently, he is a researcher at the Laboratory of Microhydrodynamics and Flow in Porous Media (LMMP), carrying out scientific projects on reservoir optimization field in partnership with Petrobras. Previously, he worked in another research group focused on optimization in order to reduce the environmental impacts of a production process. His professional interest is in data science, focusing on model development. He has been working as a volunteer in Amigos Para Sempre(APS), an organization aimed at caring children. His long-term goal is to set up an institution where children learn how to code, enhancing their technical skills and preparing themselves for better opportunities in the future.
